How To Fest

Now in its eighth year, the 2020 Tally Shorts Film Festival takes place February 7-8, in the Fred Turner Auditorium on the campus of Tallahassee Community College.

Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, is home to a wide range of free and low cost options to help make your visit memorable. We are surrounded by nature, only a short drive from beautiful beaches and enjoy a vibrant night life. For more on what to do during your visit, check out our good friends over at Visit Tallahassee.

The Event

The Festival starts Friday evening with our Opening Night screening – a selection of this year’s films spanning all genres. Saturday is packed with films shown simultaneously on two screens. Our screenings are organized into “blocks” – films we think go together. Blocks are approximately 60 minutes long, with a 20 minute break in-between.

Before the films start on Saturday morning, we have a Meet-And-Greet with filmmakers whose films are screening at the Festival. Many of our film blocks include a Q&A session with visiting filmmakers.

After the Opening Night films, attend an Opening Night Party. After the last film on Saturday, attend the Awards Ceremony.

The Awards

The Festival presents three awards each year. The Tally Shorts Favorite and the Florida Favorite are determined by a panel of judges from the film industry and allied fields. Meet the 2020 judges.

In addition, the audience votes on an Audience Favorite Award.

Our program committee scours hundreds of hours of films from the region and around the world, bringing you the very best cinema from around the world. Films that tell stories you won’t hear or see anywhere else, that will challenge and excite you. Two hundred films from 30 countries were submitted and viewed by our program committee.

The 2020 film schedule includes 72 films, representing over 14 hours of incredible filmmaking.

2020 Festival Schedule

We recommend buying an All Fest Pass that give you access to all films, events, and parties. All Fest Passes are more expensive day of Festival.

Box Office
The Tally Shorts Box Office is located in the Turner Auditorium Lobby. The Box Office will open at 6PM on Friday, February 7, and 9AM on Saturday February 8.

Passes purchased in advance are picked up at the Box Office – we do not mail passes.

You may purchase passes and tickets to individual film blocks at the Box Office during the Festival.

A note about seating
Like most all film festivals, seating is on a first-come, first-served basic.  Your pass does not guarantee you a seat, so we recommend you arrive early for the films you want to see.
